U.S. Representative Mike Kelly To Seek Another Term In U.S. House
Butler, PA – U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (PA-03) announced today that he will be filing petitions to seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives.
“After some time of reflection with my family and supporters, I have decided to seek re-election as a Representative in Congress,” declared Kelly. “As a successful small businessman, I saw firsthand how the wayward policies of Washington were negatively affecting Main Streets from Erie to Butler. I believed Washington needed to understand that the private sector creates jobs, not politicians or bureaucrats; so in 2010 I decided to do something about it and declared my candidacy for Congress.”
“In the House of Representatives this past year, we have passed measures to: bring more surety to job creators;rein in spending by enacting spending cuts; reduce the federal deficit; and eliminate wasteful earmarks. However, I believe much more needs to be done to foster a better climate to create jobs, reform our legislative process and shrink the size and cost of the federal government,” added Kelly.
Kelly also called upon the Senate and the Obama Administration to get behind the numerous job creation measures that have passed the House of Representatives.
“It’s time to stop government from stifling the American spirit of entrepreneurship,” added Kelly. “It is painfully obvious that we can’t continue down the viscous cycle of incurring debt to support misguided programs and then exacerbate the problem by throwing more of the taxpayer’s good money after bad. We need to focus our full attention on passing pro- job growth policies and reducing the national debt. The House has taken the important first steps; it is imperative the Senate and the president follow our lead.”
Representative Kelly has shown no signs of intimidation during his freshman term in Washington. During his first term, Kelly has demonstrated his willingness to take on the Beltway’s status quo by pushing hard to end what were once common practices such as earmarks and lame duck sessions of Congress. Representative Kelly has been featured by number of national news outlets and received praise recently in The Washington Times for his leadership on ending wasteful taxpayer-funded subsidies.
