Foreign Policy
During his first term in Congress, Mike was honored to be asked to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee. He is the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee for Asia and the Pacific.
Mike believes that America is still a beacon of hope to the world. Mike is proud to represent a district that is flush with immigrants that have moved to Pennsylvania to pursue the American dream.
However, America’s foreign policy can only be as strong as its economy. Mike believes that we need to be aggressively looking at our military operations around the globe and examine if they fill a foreign policy strategic need. America’s weakened economy can no longer support the vast footprint our military has around the globe.
Additionally, America needs to continue to foster strategic partnerships with allies that share common goals of open, but fair trade policies or that might fill strategic needs for fighting the West’s battle against Islamo-Fascism.
